Barbara Wooten
Barbara Wooten has extensive experience in human resources and compensation management for government agencies, non-profits, higher education, and the private sector. Some of the public and private organizations she has worked for include the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Metropolitan Area Planning Commission (MAPC), Virginia Community College System, Wheelabrator Technologies, The Gillette Company, Tufts University, and the Public Service Agency of New Hampshire. Her technical work and skills include personnel policies/handbooks, compliance, job descriptions, training, coaching, recruitment, performance, compensation, classification, and benefits for a wide variety of diverse organizations. She served as the Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In this role, she oversaw the work of Senior HR Directors and HR Managers who directed functions of Classification, Compensation, Civil Service, Policy, Learning and Development and HR Operations; and she was the project manager for data analysts and responsible for assisting in the updating of 200 job titles. Barbara has been a trainer for interviewing techniques to job seekers. At Tufts University she was involved in the goal of increasing and advancing the enrollment of Women in the College of Engineering and ensuring compliance with EEO and AA laws and policy. At Gillette Corporation she managed the payroll, benefits, recruitment and compensation departments. She has written comprehensive personnel policies/handbooks that extended to 35 different States covering the various laws. Barbara is an HRS Senior Management Consultant and brings hands-on experience and expertise from varied industries including government, higher education, financial services, utilities, and manufacturing. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, and a Master’s Degree in Education (M.Ed.) from Boston, University, Boston, MA.
